When I was 15 I was raped and got HPV ( cervical dysplacia) I have been treated and my last two pap smears have come back normal. But I'm real depressed. I wish I could find a teenager who has the same thing as me or been through what I have. I need help and support. I am 16 now and will seventeen in august.

hey i dont know. i have genital herpes which is basically the same thing just not as severe. i dont even know how i got mine, i only had one sexual parnter when i was told i had it. an the person that told me was my partner, she blamed it all on me. i still have a hard time deallling with it. my doctor told me to continue to enjoy my life.
what youre going through is totally different, i know the last thing you want is anyone to feel bad for you but, the partner i was with , she was also raped by her grandfather, an it is somthing that bothered her more than anything in the world. she let it get in the way of her be happy alot of the time. an there is now way to just let it go, but please dont let it ruin your life. there is so much more out there to see ,an enjoy .so just be carefully an live life. i know what i said probally hasnt helped but i hope it did a little . |

Hi,
that last person wrote a really good answer. I don't have HPV, but my best friend does. I am really glad your pap smears are coming up normal!!! That is great. You may never get cervical cancer, but you know to KEEP up with your GYN about getting paps. My friend had a leep and all of that, she is in her late 20s. (they said she can have a kid). Go forward with your life plz!!! Life is full of bad crap, but don't let this get you down. I'm not going to pretend that HPV is a great thing to have, but shooot.... good thing you found out soon enough before it got bad. I was raped as a 11 year old... I have moved forward, okay, I am 21 now, but it's like it happened to someone else. I don't think I could have gotten to where I am now with the rape thing if not for a good therapist (as in shrink). I used to be very depressed from it and about life in general. Maybe your GYN would know someone you could talk to about your fears, concerns and all! Glad you posted. Hi there, I am 25 years old and after reading your concerns about having HPV, I had to reply. I was diagnosed with HPV when I was 17 years old. I don't know exactly where or who I got it from as I have never been the type to sleep around. I felt that same way you felt. It's been eight years and I've had all normal paps since. Please know that it's not the end of the world and realize that HPV is soooo common! Cheer up!

I'm 21 years old and i have HPV. I go soon to have a coloscopy done. I'm scared! I guess all you can do is keep strong. My mom told me that this is so common.

I am 23 years old. Two years ago I was diagnosed with HPV, cervical dysplacia. I had the leep procedure done, as you may have had. It is depressing, but you have to stay positive. However, take preventative measures. There is a new drug out called Beta menan. I don't know how safe it is, I think they are still testing it. I can tell you this though, my paps have been normal since my procedure, until 2 weeks ago. I went to have one last pap to make sure everything was ok before trying to get pregnant. It's not ok, mine has come back. I'm not sure what I am going to do, depends on how bad it is this time, but I will tell you this: It's scary, and depressing but you are young enough that you don't have to worry. When I was 8 years old I was raped all the way until the age of 14 by my stepfather, and now I am 24, and just now was diagnosed with cervical dysplacia, I have closure with the rape he is currently doing 45 years in prison, but it still makes me mad he can effect my life 10 years later finding out I have cervical dysplacia, because of him, anything you need help with ,you let me know,

Hey I am eighteen years old and on my eighteenth birthday I got a call from Family planning... I had HPV.
I didn't know or understand this disease at the time but i have until january 2004 to get the surgery done or it will get serious. It is already high-risk for cancer. My doctor said in two years it will be full blown cancer. No kids...no life. I am not having the surgery i am just gonna let myself deteriorate. I am that upset. |
